FAQ

Before your first class

Practical answers for new students, parents, and visitors booking a trial.

Do I need experience to start?

No. Classes are beginner-friendly, and the coaching team guides you step by step from day one.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear a t-shirt and sports shorts or leggings with no zippers. Bring a gi if you already have one.

What is the difference between Gi and No-Gi?

Gi training uses the traditional uniform and more grip-based control. No-Gi uses rashguards and shorts and tends to move faster.

Which class should beginners take first?

Start with Fundamentals. It focuses on the base positions and movements before students progress into sparring.

Do you offer classes for kids?

Yes. Kids classes use structured coaching, safe training, and placement based on the child's age and readiness.

Is BJJ safe?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport, but beginner classes are controlled, technique-focused, and supervised. Coaches teach safe movement, tapping early, and appropriate training partners.

Can I start if I am out of shape?

Yes. You can start at your own pace. The goal is to build fitness through consistent training, not to arrive already fit.

Is sparring required?

No. New students can focus on drilling, movement, and fundamentals first. Coaches introduce positional training and sparring when the student is ready.

Do kids need a gi?

For a trial class, kids can usually start in comfortable sports clothing. If they continue training, the team can advise on the right gi size and when to buy one.

How long is a class?

Most classes run about 60 minutes. Some advanced sessions, open mats, or special training blocks may run longer, so check the live schedule for the exact class.

Are there women's classes or mixed classes?

No. Alliance Jiu Jitsu Kuwait is licensed as a men's gym, so women's or mixed classes are not offered. Message the team on WhatsApp for kids class placement and trial options.
